Hawke's Bay Wedding at Peak House, Te Mata Peak

Introducing the Mudgways! Gaia and Luke's wedding day at Peak House was such a good one — the dreamiest colours, margaritas flowing, and those Te Mata Peak views absolutely showing off. There's something extra special about this one too: Luke proposed to Gaia right up here on Te Mata Peak the December before, so they came back to the exact same spot to get married.

Gaia and Luke met in Girona, Spain back in 2023, and half of their wedding guests travelled all the way from Italy to be there. It was the first time Gaia's family and friends had met Luke's, which is exactly why this day mattered so much to them — everyone they love, finally in the same place. Petals down the aisle, charcuterie and bubbles, six speeches, a first dance, and Hawke's Bay doing what it does best with the most gorgeous sunset. You could feel the love (and the party) all day long. Days like this are exactly why I love wedding photography — the candid moments, the classic portraits, the in-between laughs, and all the little memories that feel completely real. I'll never know how I got to help these gorgeous people capture such special and fun memories. What a gift!

Engagement Shoot Before the Wedding

Before their big day, Gaia and Luke did a couples shoot with me — neither of them had ever had professional photos taken before, so it made such a difference! It gave them the chance to practise being in front of the camera, feel more relaxed, and learn a few simple tips before the wedding. This is one of the biggest reasons I love couple sessions, especially for people who feel a little awkward about photos or have never done it before. By the time the wedding day arrives, it feels less like posing and more like hanging out together.
